Finally, the weather and the fishing were on the same page today!!!! Fantastic weather and fishing! Found a load of birds and fish on top right out of the gate. Got 3 or 4 drifts out of it, with multiple fish on at a time around the boat. Once the boat traffic smushed it we had to take a ride looking around. Picked a few in each area we looked until we saw some birds picking the water a couple miles away with our new fancy mega binoculars 🤣 (thanks Harry!) Pulled up on them and found acres of fish chasing bunkers on the surface without a boat in sight. At first they were a little tough to catch, but once we got dialed in it was game on. Fish were pushing the bait right up against the side of the boat, some absolutely crazy sights to watch! Ended the day there with an awesome crack at the fish with the ability to make nice long drifts holding fish on the entire time. Derek was high hook today with 12 himself with a couple guys not far behind him. The fish today ranged from 26"-39" and all were loaded with sea lice from the ocean. Steamed out last night with a great crew for some night time chunking. Looked over where we had our best fishing yesterday and didn't see much so we kept going. Found a nice little area of readings up shallow to set up on and went to work. Had steady bites for the first few hours, but nothing fast and furious. Picked away at fish up to 36" with a handful of keepers. Bite seemed to dry up as the night went on so we picked up and did some more looking to end the night. Found another area of readings in some deeper water, but never got a bite out of it. Seemed they only wanted to eat up shallow. Back at it tonight! Night Time Chunking!!!! Had our first night chunking trip of the year today and we found some fish! First couple drops were no good, with only a few bites. Made a move to a different area at the end of the night and it was game on! Constant bites until it was time to go home. Gave it some OT, and left them biting. Everything was too big tonight, with the biggest going just over 38". Lost a bunch of fish tonight too, along with plenty of bites that were missed due to swinging instead of reeling into the circle hooks. All in all though, it was great to see an area of fish that wanted to eat the chunks! Plan is to head straight there tomorrow night. We are now sailing EVERY NIGHT! Great weather and great fishing today! Found fish immediately again today with nice long drifts catching fish the whole way. Never hot and heavy but steady with a couple on at a time throughout the drifts. Once the tide slowed we took a look around, found some new fish moving in but nothing that wanted to chew. So went back to where we started for the change of current and they bit again, ending the day with another good shot of fish. Full boat limit of keepers and loads of overs going back. Very good Striper fishing today!!! Left the dock with another good crowd this morning and found fish under birds almost immediately. Our first drift was mayhem with fish flying over the rail. Once we got covered in boats the fish went down but we continued to catch on the readings. Went up for a second drift and found them good again with 5-8 fish on at a time. Boat traffic got real bad and the fish dispersed, so we decided to take a ride. Took a little looking but ended up finding a nice patch of fish and bait where we were able to make long drifts and hold 1-2 fish on the entire drift. Once the tide slacked off, that slowed up so we took a ride back to where we started and found them again. Was able to get another couple cracks at them before heading home. Couple guys were hot today with 10+ fish a piece. Lots of overs today, but still a bunch of keepers to fill the box. Left the dock an hour early this morning with a sold out crowd with high hopes. As soon as we got to where we left them yesterday, we had fish on immediately. Got a couple of good drifts out of it with a few fish on at a time, and then the boats found us and it slowed to a death pick. Did lots of looking only seeing one here and one there. Finally at the end of the day the bait came together and we were able to get another nice shot of fish on the last few drifts. Still not enough, and definitely not like yesterdays bite but it was better than nothing. Thanks to everyone for fishing hard today! Now that was some fishing!!!!! All out mayhem to end the day today!!!🔥🔥🔥 After a slower morning of picking fish here and there on readings, we did some looking and landed on the absolute motherload of fish feeding on bunkers! Fantastic fishing with up to 10 fish on at a time around the boat. Myself and the mates didn't put the nets down for 30+ minutes. Loads of keepers and overs up to 38"! All the fish we read all morning finally found the bait and went to work! Couldn't ask for any better of a grand finale for the day! Better Striper fishing today! Took a ride in a different direction this morning to do some looking and found absolute mother loads of readings. Had some good drifts with multiple fish on at a time before the change of tide. Had a little lul waiting for the current again but once it started running we picked away again. Never hot and heavy fishing, and definitely didn't catch what we read. But, that is expected for this early in the season. Had a couple guys with 3-5 fish a piece. Here's some pics! Much slower fishing on this mornings trip. Had some decent drifts at the beginning of the tide, with a couple fish each drift. As the tide picked up, so did the wind and the fish seemed to scatter. The boat traffic is definitely getting to them, making them tough to land on at times. Readings were still good for the majority of the day, they just didn't bite right. Picked at some throughout the rest of the day but not nearly enough. High hook had 3 or 4, but nothing to write home about. Tomorrow's a new day. Another good day of early season Striper fishing today! Never hot and heavy but a good steady pick for the majority of the day. Had fish on most drifts today with some drifts seeing 8-10 fish each. Many more overs today than we've been seeing, with most fish being between 32-36". Still a nice box of keepers by the end of the day though. Jesse was high hook today with 15 fish off the pulpit. Again, fishing very close to home so loads of fishing time. Checked out some new areas to end the day and read mother loads of fish that just weren't ready to eat yet... Fresh fish moving in.
